This was once one of richest and most flourishing cities of southern Etruria. Of great interest is the Tomba della Pietrera (currently closed to the public for restoration), one of the largest and most famous monumental tombs dating to the 7th century, clearly visible on the “Via dei Sepolcri” (burial road). Another of these “barrow” tombs is the Diavolino; a reconstruction of this tomb was erected in the Archaeological Museum in Florence at the end of the 19th century.
